I started having chest pain in March 2022. I was referred to hospital for a CT coronary Angiogram In May 2022. The results showed I had no obstruction of the large coronary arteries. So this didn’t explain my symptoms. I just kept getting worse with many trips to the doctors saying this could be stress. I started feeling breathless and had worsening chest pain on exertion and pain down my arm. I soon found I could do less and less I’m 52 and I felt like I was 90. I had to go on light duties at work and eventually the doctor sent me into hospital in November I was sent home having to have 6 weeks off work due to not being able to do anything. other than rest. The consultant I saw said I would need an invasive Angiogram I got this appointment in January 2023 and went for the pre op but was then told by another consultant I didn’t need this as he believed there was no blockage. I was then booked in for a stress Echo in March 2023. The findings were totally out of keeping with the CT coronary angiogram I had in May 2022 so was told I could have microvascular Angina.but was also told I would have an invasive angiogram however I was warned that the hospital was unable to diagnose other potential causes. I was given an appointment for my pre op and procedure in May 2023.The consultant said he was surprised by the results I had a 100% blocked artery he couldn’t believe this wasn’t picked up in May 2022. He couldn’t do the stent on that day as he said it would take 3 hours and didn’t have the time but I will get another appointment as soon as possible. Since the weather has got warmer I am struggling to cope and yet again have been signed off work. Have spoken to the consultants secretary telling her I was struggling and was sent a letter from my consultant saying the procedure could take another 6 to 8 weeks to arrange. Was told to try a new drug to help while I was waiting but the funny thing is I am already on this drug and had been taking it since March 2023. So as you would expect I phoned the consultants secretary again. I then received a phone call from the consultant asked me what drugs I was on that he had prescribed. I now have a date for my stent which is in 2 weeks. Please could anyone share there experiences with a stent being fitted to a 100 % blocked artery.

Hi Lemon31
I’m sorry to hear that the initial blockage was missed last year however, I’m glad you have a surgery date for 2 weeks.
I can’t offer any advice on stenting, but I would like to wish you the best of luck!
Please let us know how you get on post surgery.

I had a stent last September for completely blocked LAD last september. As some of you know I was in a trial and didn't know for sure until March this year that I had actually had the stent. I was pretty sure I had had one as all my symptoms of angina pain when walking, even a few hundred yards , went. I have been relatively angina free since. The angiography to fit the stent was ok, Sent in through the wrist and groin, had to lay flat for a few hours. As someone else said on another post make sure you go to the toilet before hand, it's very awkward trying to per into a cardboard bedpan when flat on your back.
