Hi 👋,Great news. After my CV I can now spend a couple of hours gardening without terrible muscle pain and breathlessness. I am still feeling pretty tired so sleeping alot. It was three weeks ago ❤️
Question- Yesterday, I had a CT scan and was given GNT for the first time. During the scan I got a very very bad headache and started shaking really badly which I couldn't control. The doc said my hr was going up and gave me another drug ? I couldn't move because they hadn't injected the tracer . When they did this a rushing feeling and I thought I had wet myself. Thankfully, I hadn't ! They got me off the bed and sat me in a chair to recover. I was still wrapped up in a blanket. A cup of tea then sent me on my way. I felt like a zombie. Nobody really explained what happened ? Is this normal ? Was it the GN T ? I was abit upset as I wasn't expecting that.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience of the CT scan yesterday. I presume they would’ve explained the side effects of any dye that they used during the CT scan beforehand?
The feeling you explain, a warm rush with the sensation of almost wanting to wet yourself is absolutely normal when being injected with a dye for a CT scan. I had the same sensations previously when having a CT scan. This is often considered a side effect to the dye, but does wear off pretty quickly.
In terms of the GNT, do you mean GTN (glyceryl trinitrate)? This is a spray, also available in tablet form that is administered to prevent or treat angina. This helps the radiologists and doctors see your heart and vessels more clearly.
The symptoms you describe after the GTN was administered is also normal. I also experience a throbbing headache and tachycardia (high heart rate) when using this for my angina.
Below is more information on GTN which you might find useful, including the side effects.
Thanks for the info. The only information given on the day regarding side effects from the doc was you might feel warm. The nurse just did my BP and ECG at the pre-assessment appointment.
