In 2017 I had to wait 3 weeks between pre op assessment and getting my aortic valve replaced at the Golden Jubilee. All the best for your surgery - and I hope that you get a room with a good view over the Clyde for your recovery - watching the ships, the aeroplanes and helicopters was an pleasant distraction while recovering.

Thanks, I am no stranger to hospital rooms and some of the views have left a lot to be desired. Roof vents and heating units etc have been common so open scenery would be a good change.

You are meant to have your surgery within 12 weeks of preop. My mum had her first preop in december which ran out and had to have another 1 in March.

It looks as if thats going to happen to me as now more than six weeks have passed since pre op , the symptoms are worsening but I really dont feel like going to A&E to sit around for hours.

Finally got an admission date of 4th July with surgery next day , obviously this is dependent on theatre and staff availability .

Good luck Jeff from what I hear there is no better place to have your surgery as it gets an excellent reputation. I have aortic stenosis and was told in May I should have open heart surgery or keyhole at the Jubilee to have my valve replaced. I have no idea what the pre tests involve, regardless I have decided not to have surgery of any kind. This is because I have many fears as one being I live alone, but there are many more. I would like to hear how you get on, my consultant will see me again next year unless meantime I change my mind, which is doubtful.

Hope it goes well Jeff, it’s a big decision, I know when I was told this year mine had got worse he took the wind from my saiks as my symptoms were only two out of seven, maybe I will get worse time will tell. .Good luck

HiI am now 8 days post surgery and it did not go as envisaged, I went into AF three days after surgery and it took 12 hours to get back to a acceptable level.

As a result my recovery has been delayed but hope to be discharged this weekend dependent on INR returning to normal which will let medics remove the central line in my neck.

I am totally washed out and being in a hospital bed so long has affected a spinal facet joint problem I have making walking painful. I will try and update as I go along what I think will be a long recovery.
