Coronation BBQ
Lovely Michael I have been waiting outside in the rain for 20 minutes with my contribution to the Jacobs Join. I have brought my biggest golf umbrella ever, alongside two bottles of Rose wine and a bottle of Baileys plus Chicken wings, Chocolate gateaux and some garlic bread. Hopefully someone has brought some heathy options as my Sainsburys was shut. Where shall I put the drinks ?
I'll show you where the drinks table is, coincidentally it's the table next to mine π
I'll show you where the drinks table is, coincidentally it's the table next to mine π
Thank you Lezzers, sounds about right. Fortunately for you I am no competition for the gin!
Oh that's good to hear but I'll definitely fight for a glass of your Bailey's πππ
Did someone mention gin?
Oh no! Lezzers already has double posting!
No, I don't believe they did π€₯π€₯π€₯
I've only just started, so I'm not tiddly yet, and I definitely heard the word "gin"...
No, I believe it was the word 'bin' that you heard. As in someone said where is the bin for the empties ππ€₯
Are you sure? Everyone knows the bin is over in that corner... or is that andytheextransporter slumped down over there?
He's bring a tanker of gin!
Is he? Well, we all know who's going to drink most of that, don't we? Can't take Lezzers anywhere!
It's a miserable mizzle here Michael so here I am. I brought a barrel of Coronation Ale as drunk by King Charles himself!
No worries about the weather, someone in town was selling off the remainder of the Coronation blow up plastic crown rain bonnets in town this morning so I bought them all. They are in the black bin liner beside me but you will have to blow them up yourselves. Such a good idea!
Could I try a drop of that ale please?
See beta70' reply above, that's where I heard the word bin mentioned ππ€₯ phew π
OK, I'll let you off. But I'm sure "gin" was mentioned about 5 minutes before Beta's commenet...
Noooo, I think your watch must be slow. Wouldn't be a smart watch would it, they're notoriously inaccurate π now I'm just gonna sample a bit of food, ooer my legs don't seem to be working properly at the moment πΈπΉ
Gosh this all sounds very delicious already! Iβve brought a large salad, potato salad, chips and dips, some honey glazed white and red onion, mixers for cocktails and rolls for burgers and hot dogs ππ€€
Brilliant, something healthy at last, I will have a large portion of that salad please.
Iβm going to tuck into a burger with some of my red onions and Iβll throw in some halloumi while at it I think!
What are you having Michael, Iβm about to go and get a drink; can I get anyone else one whilst Iβm up?
Afternoon All! I've bought some strange looking gin from M&S (so it must be ok). Obviously I'll just stick to the fruit juice...
Those burgers look good, Michael. Could I have one with bacon and fried egg, please. And a side order of halloumi. I did have a cake that I was going to bring. But I ate virtually all of it yesterday. Sorry.
It's a bit chilly out here, isn't it?
You shouldn't be chilly. We are in the Cloud so the weather is whatever you want it to be!
Has anyone tried that new alcohol free gin yet?
Did anyone go to London to watch the Coronation? I watched it on tv and several times after on the news.
I'm in London. I avoided the centre like the plague - can't stand crowds! Watched the service on telly, then went to visit my old mum in her nursing home where they were having a party!
That's lovely for them all. I was in London for Queen Elizabeth's Coronation but struggled to see much from my pram !
Did you bring your book with you?
Are you here yet, Andy, or are you just quietly guzzling your way down the barrel of Coronation Ale?
I've brought a coronation quiche, but our broad beans aren't ready yet, so I used baked beans.
I hope they were the low salt and sugar ones, or you will have messed up the menu!
Does it have cheese in it? Even in the virtual world I can't do cheese π¨π± sadly
Im late as usual so bringing Pimms, scones, strawbs & cream as thought the bbq might be out by now π€¦π½ββοΈ
No you're not too late, come & sit πͺ with me, I'll help you with the goodies π½οΈ now where shall we put the strawbs & cream ππ₯
Another late comer sorry but I have Drink
Sorry I'm late. Got the time zones mixed up. Got some fish to go on the barby. That Coronation ale looks as good as any pint of old and filthy I've seen in a long while.
I have Pussers Rum select aged 151 Alc/ Vol 75.5 so not to be drunk neat !!! So lets splice the Mainbrace God Save the King
Blimey, I'll have a drop of that please. Mummasoap brought some mixers for just this opportunity!
God save the King!
I once bought some brandy (I think it was brandy, I bought it when I was on holiday & didn't understand the label!) It was soooo potent that even my friends, who were hardened drinkers at the time, refused to try it, even sipping it took your head off!! I finally managed to palm it off to someone who rarely drunk, he thought it was really nice π³π³
Everything in moderation ( including moderation)
Sounds like Pussers Gun Powder Proof Rum. I didn't think anything like that would Faze yourself when it comes to drink lol
That's what I thought but I was very happy to accept defeat with the bottle πΎ of whatever it was. It seriously needed to come with a health warning, which it might have done if I'd been able to read the label π€£ one thing is for sure, I've never tasted anything like that before & I've had years of experience π€£
My Granny used to give me something called India Brandy whenever I was ill as a young child. She swore by it, but I hated it. They always said I slept really well at her house!
I bet you slept well π€£π€£ it always made me laugh that gripe water had alcohol in it, talk about get the kids on the alcoholic train ride as early as possible! π€£π€£
But you are driving the gin tanker! Lezzers is getting thirsty! π
Just call the AA and they will help you get here
Sorry have to go to take the dog out in case in rains later. There are still about 10 pints of Coronation Ale left!
Thought I had seen you somewhere before. Were you the singing lorry driver in the Macdonalds tv advert a few months ago who brought his woman a burger home, singing "Baby, Baby I'm coming home"?. She looked really pleased with it. Women have such low expectations these days!
Sorry I'm on the fashionably late side of arrival but dragging this Ermin Cloke up a gravel path ain't easy..........
Your more than welcome Dame Blue1958 I know your shy about your title but this weekend is rather special.
First time I have seen it in print !....rather fetching , nanny will be pleased
I was going to give a reply that I thought You would like but on second thoughts I may then be banned lol
Dam those spies !
Come in, pull up that almost empty barrel of Coronation ale and sit down.
Almost empty? that's the story of my life
Well, we're doing our best.
lol I could not ask for more, thank you, but I'm sticking to the gin { Bombay Sapphire }
My chauffeur said he would pick you up, as long as it ain't in a ruff part of town
oh bit far for the car, will send the jet mate
Am I too late?
I have been trying to work out how the mice have been getting into my greenhouse.
They keep nibbling my pea shoots....
think there is still a bit of life around..... "nibbled pea shoots" sounds like an up market restaurant !
The mice also dug up and ate all the sunflower seeds I planted too!
Has Lezzers drunk all the gin?
ain't seen Her yet, my bottle is hidden in the plant pot
Need to go real food is on the table and I am not brave enough to keep her waiting lol. I will leave the bottle of Rum just enjoy
See you later and ta for the rum, shame you won't be around to see the effects that rum has on me.........
Picky picky picky........but true
glad to here you still have it in you, don't train truckers like that anymore !
well I'm pleased for you, sounds like growing up to me, big boys pants now, well done
Have to go Dog doing the " let me out dance " thanks once again Michael for being the host with the most, see you all in the forum soon ......
I'll be off (b off?) now as well. Thanks to Michael for hosting this. See you all soon I hope. π
sorry I missed it. Lunch guests stayed a while. π Did Lezzers embarrass herself in the gin? Hereβs to the next one! x
Many thanks for a lovely afternoon Michael. Time to go home and put the kettle on now.
Sorry, I've been absent, real life got in the way for moment or 2! So, I'm now back!! Anyone still around? Though I guess what I'm really asking is, is there any gin left π€
I would buy you a G&T any day. So I will just hand one over enjoy
Anyone ready to give a hand clearing up. There seem to be empty bottles everywhere - mostly gin and rum! π
Oh, is that real life calling again πjust kidding I'll help clear up, I'll just start with the bottles πΈ π
I'll come and give you a hand Michael.
So glad I don't have to frisk people for loo rolls anymore before they leave.
There's always one π
Anyone seen the Coronation Ale barrel? I had to leave a Β£25 deposit.
*creeps back in quietly and wanders back out with a bottle of Tankeray...*
Darn... ok, but keep your voice down. I think there are still some scones around somewhere...
Sorry to have missed it, we had out Coronation Street Party today. I'm so rock and roll.... 2 zero percent lagers and some crudites and houmous π
Here. There's plenty of jam if you want to avoid the unclotted cream.
Ello, ello, what's going on here then?
You could be reported to the moderators by spies that lurk within these threads!
Turn the jar upside down and slap it like a ketchup bottle.
Well, if you must put it that way...
I kept tripping over all the loo rolls on the ground.Just saying, it's a curiosity......
π§»π§»π§»π§»π§»
I am afraid I am very dull. Carrot, apple, lemon sultana and walnut salad - takes ages to grate. Also gluten free home made apple cake. Union Jacks, galore. Still at least it is all healthy. Hope the bbq is under cover.
ouch!!!
you will need an armoured vehicle to keep them safe - or put them in the safe to keep them secure
