Had a consultation with a cardiologist from the private sector today... the good news is that he doesn't believe my symptoms are heart failure!

So working diagnosis is that I've a flare up of pericarditis and need to start back on colchicine, and he will write to my GP and nhs consultant to request I have additional tests... or if I get insurance sorted out then go back to him.

So feeling more reassured, and hopeful that this will spur things on.

Thanks to all for the support in the posts and chats!

Hello :-)

This is such good news that you do not have heart failure and sounds like as we say you have got the ball rolling to get your symptoms sorted out now :-)

Have a lovely evening :-) x

Oh I'm waiting for a repeat echo abd holter monitor too.. an urgent echo here's taking about 6 weeks. :( have you already had a cmri? Mine came back with not clear evidence but they went with a diagnosis of myopericarditis anyway...leaves things a bit uncertain.

Oh I dread to think what the wait time is here, but I'd be happy ro be on the list at this stage!

I had a cMRI back in August, was reassuring but they did see inflammation and that was 6 weeks post hospital, so must have been a fair bit... apparently it doesn't always show after a few weeks. Had a CT as well.

Have you much longer to wait or is it the 6 week mark now?

Great news about not being heart failure. Not so good about Peri. I’ve been a sufferer now since 2006. It might be worth you joining our pericarditis group if you live in the UK. It’s very supportive and informative. We often get information, videos etc from the UK pericarditis working group made up of top cardiologists and rheumatology/immunology professors.

Oh that's a long time to be going through that! Do you keep well enough?

I'd like to join the group - is it on this website?

Oh yes, I'd be interested too.
