I can only imagine I would be feeling so frustrated to
See what happens next time and even though I have everything crossed that it will get done if it happens again then you will have to talk with them and see if there is any other way to do it I am sure they will not leave you without coming up with something if they have to x
I was in Af in hospital for 5 and 6 days heart beat 178 stuck at 140 for 4 days discharged then booked for cardioversion 5 weeks later . I was told once I had it I would breathe much better hence I wanted it
I had exactly the same experience last Monday. I’ve been waiting 5 months for the scan but unfortunately, went into persistent AF at the beginning of February. I called them the week before the scan to explain that my heart rate is very variable at the mo but rarely goes below 85, so didn’t think they could do the scan but I was assured it would be fine and they would “ give me something “ for it. Told them again when I got there but the nurse insisted it would be fine and I should relax. If only one could revert back to normal rhythm just by doing that!
It was only when I was on the scanner table wired up to the heart rate monitor and my ticker was jumping about between 80 -118 that they finally twigged what the problem was and decided they couldn’t do the scan. They seemed genuinely puzzled, as if they’d never come across the irregular heartbeat that is AF before! I’m now waiting to hear whether they’ll do an angiogram instead.
Just seemed a waste of a slot that could have gone to someone else.
Short answer is yes! My asthma, which was only ever a problem when exercising in cold weather has increased markedly since taking heart meds. I was on Bisoprolol initially but switched to Diltiazem about a month ago to see if that improved things. It didn’t. I went from getting random episodes of breathlessness to quite significant asthma attacks after eating. Tried cutting out different foods in case it was a sensitivity to something but no joy. Eventually read up on the negative effects both calcium channel blockers and beta blockers can have on the upper oesophageal sphincter, causing it to relax too much. So my supposition is that the random breathlessness episodes and the asthma after eating could be being triggered by acid reflux. I’ve now switched to Digoxin and will be picking up some antacid tomorrow in the hope it will make a difference. Here’s hoping!
little different one I believe is a tube/wire into your arm to the area of concern the other angiography the dye is injected into your arm without the need for the tube to be inserted
The angiogram scans your heart like they do when scanning a pregnant woman. Even with that they can’t scan if the arrhythmia is to fast. Like SVT. Supra ventricular tachycardia.
I am due to go to hospital for tests next Thursday to look at my tricuspid valve that needs either replacing or repair. They are doing a catherisation, which I was told was similar to an angiogram, does anyone know the difference.
