micro vascular unstable angina

hi I’ve got unstable angina which didn’t show up on an angiogram as it’s not the main blood vessels. The pain nonetheless is just as bad and of course there’s nothing triggers it . NGT spray does sometimes work but it leaves me feeling sick and clammy. Any ideas on what else to do when this happens?

I cant comment on your condition but if you use a computer based web browser (rather than phone) there are multiple previous posts about MVA under the heading Related Posts to the right of your post.

Hello. I aways wondered if thats what i have with my heart failure. I have a huge scar on the heart too. I get pains randomly without any cause of trigger. More so at rest but not when mobile or moving usually. Sometimes sharp and sometimes dull. They ruled out normal angina. Also on the pain scale for me, its not that painful. Less pain than a stitch. So not sure. They say maybe its the heart repairing and just where its been damaged. All pipes clear too.

Does resting and laying down help it when it occurs? Sometimes a quick nap helps for me but also hard to get to sleep. I do also have the GTN spray but dont like to use since last time i used, i had a heart attack in the hospital.

Hello Robibhood9999

I live with vasospastic angina, which is along with microvascular angina, a type of non obstructive coronary artery disease NOCAD.

My vasospastic angina can be very unpredictable, my chest pain arriving out of nowhere! However the cold, mental, emotional and physical stress will trigger my symptoms. I experience most of my pain at rest especially in the night.

I have been in hospital since last Monday for treatment of my coronary vasospasms with IV GTN and morphine.

Have you been offered any formal testing to determine whether you have microvascular or vasospastic angina?

It's important to know whether the cause of your symptoms is due to microvascular or vasospastic angina. The symptoms can overlap but the treatment options are different.

I suggest you ask to be referred to a Cardiologist who understands microvascular and vasospastic angina so you can be offered the appropriate tests and have your medication tailored to you.

It can take time to find the best combination of medication that will work best for you.

The BHF has this information about microvascular and vasospastic angina.

So sorry to hear you're in hospital. Hope you're feeling better soon. Have you found GTN spray helped when you had pain? I bought some after your last helpful message and used it duringva bad bought but it didn't seem to help me... take care. T

Unfortunately GTN doesn't help me. It works but I then get more painful rebound vasospasms, after using it.

GTN doesn't always help people living with microvascular angina either.
