The "Plague" and stents.

Hi. I am a fit 58 but unexpectedly needed 3 stents fitted at the end of August. Recovery is/was going well but unfortunately I contracted the virus that cannot be named. My symptoms were mild, (I was vaccinated and boosted etc), but sadly I am still testing positive after 12 days. Has anyone else experienced this length of positive tests? Is it to do with medications? I have been "shunned" into the spare room and my shed but am getting fed up with it and wonder how long more it will last! Im not sure why BHF dont like discussion on this issue!

I had a similar experience, it took over a fortnight before I tested negative, even though the symptoms were pretty mild.

I'm not a medic so I can't say for sure, but I very much doubt our medication has anything to do with it, more likely it's just the inevitable random variation that you'd expect in any population.

Congratulations on your excellent recovery, don't let a little thing like the "plague" knock you off-course!

Hello :-)

I am sorry to hear you had to have some stents but glad they caught you and your recovery has been going well till the virus popped up and now have a concern about been positive after 12 days

It took me 11 days to get a negative and I really do not think it has anything to do with the meds we take I know people that have took 3 weeks I think it is just one of those things some take longer than others and I really hope you soon get a clear one because it is nearly Christmas and I would like to think you were either not in that shed or room and will be enjoying yourself :-)

Just thinking back when I thought I was never going to see a negative result again all of a sudden the line started getting less visible and then it just went :-)

Hope yours will in the next day or so :-) x

Dear PaddyRedVan

You would be surprised at how many people still have a positive test well after it should have cleared, just a lot never report it,

Already you have another two answers that say the same, you can add me as well. { 16 days }

Take care and get well soon

I had exactly the same and my nephew tested positive for about 3 weeks - long after the quarantine period.

I think there is nothing sinister about it, just the variation between us. I certainly had no worries or I’ll effects from the long wait!

I totally agree that this subject should not be automatically banned, look at the useful information you have been given.

yeah it’s annoying they don’t allow us to discuss the C . It would be a fully helpful for all us to be able to discuss our experience of the i n f e c t I o n and maybe reduce anxiety about it. And gather some knowledge.

Sadly, during the pandemic there were individuals who posted mis information that caused disruption to the forum. They tried to hijack the forum to push their own agenda. Some of the information was potentially harmful.

Some members were subjected to trolling and offensive abusive comments by some of these people who have now been removed from the forum

I had “it” earlier this year and was still testing positive at 14 days - I’m not on any medication, as it’s my partner who is the heart patient.

He caught it (from me) and tested positive for a few days less, so I really think it’s just luck and how your body reacts to the virus.

Hope you get a negative soon.

My wife was positive for over a fortnight when we both caught it this year. I was quicker to be rid of it, but the original variety caught in March 2020 wasted me for a fortnight.

I hope your shed has heating and plenty of things to occupy your time. If not, get it sorted now ready for the next time! Of course, you might even need a bigger shed. 😁
