Hi All,
I am seeking CPR training for my family and close friends in the mid-Sussex area. Are there organisations that offer this?
Hi All,

I'll follow this post with interest.
After reading on this forum about how CPR had saved so many people's lives I looked into getting trained myself, in case one day I was called upon to help another.
But I was disappointed to find that the courses around here (New Forest/South Hampshire) were all quite expensive and were basically targeted at companies who were legally obligated to have a certain level of first aid training amongst their staff.
Hopefully, you'll discover an option that I'd overlooked.
Try St Johns Ambulance.
The First Aid Company at Horsted Keynes do courses but they are expensive.
i did this online… got more confidence now as i was doing it correctly
Hi, I've done training a few times through work, St Johns Ambulance and British Red Cross seemed to be the best. Not sure about St Johns but Red Cross do Public First Aid Courses at a reasonable cost.

Thanks for that, following your link I've just emailed The Red Cross regarding their £37.50 first aid course. Hopefully they'll run something in my area.
Hi NickfromSussex
It may be worth contacting your local council. I attended free training by a St John’s Ambulance Service trainer that was organised by the council - it was brilliant and so informative!!
Would highly recommend training via St John’s Ambulance Service.
I hope you find the right training for you and your family 🙂
Best wishes, Soap
St. John Ambulance , get a few neighbours to join you and , one of their trainers will
Come and show you all how to save a life , with CPR and with a defibrillator , people are nervous about using defibs even though there are many available, perhaps , sponsor one for your local Pub/club/village Hall exterior wall.
I did mine through St John's ambulance in the mid Sussex area, for work. It was a while ago but I'm sure they still run them.
This might help ....bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help...
I arranged defibrillator and CPR training for our walking group through the company that fitted and serviced some of our local defib machines. You may find a contact number on one of your machines. If your Town Council has a Community Liaison officer they may also be able to help - after I arranged ours, our Council put on training for the whole town!
British Red Cross, St John's Ambulance etc
I live in Yorkshire and have arranged sessions through Yorkshire Ambulance Service. They have trainers within the service who provide free sessions and demonstrate how and when to use the defib. Perhaps your local service would offer the same?
1959DarkBurst made a good point - remember Defib training too
now that there are more Defibrillators located in public places it is really helpful to know how to use one - and look out for them too so that you can find them in case of need💓
Good point.
You can locate the nearest defibrillator through these links.
hi Nick, I hope you manage to get booked in somewhere. I think it’s important that everyone has a good understanding of it. It would be good if classes were more available and at a more affordable cost.
I get mine through work but I had to battle for it.!!!!! My manager didn’t see the need for it when I first asked years ago. I said what if you needed CPR one day, or one of our customers?. who would give it.? at least it gives you a chance of possibly making a difference to some unfortunate person who may need it.!!!
It should be taught in secondary schools too I think, if it’s not already.??
Best wishes
Ron
ensure ABC, airway is clear, breathing, cardiac. One reason my brother died was because he asphyxiated, the nurses failed to remove all the tuna sandwich from his mouth throat before doing CPR
I’ve taken several first aid courses over the years and been in positions where I’ve had to use it. Needing a refresher.
