drug test: what does drug test actually... - British Heart Fou...
drug test
I replied to your last post explaining that the main test for nicotine is a cotinine test, usually from saliva as that’s the most accurate source, although it can be tested for via blood. Nicotine is not considered an illicit drug, at least not in the UK, and therefore isn’t tested for as part of a drug test. Can I just ask if you have a heart condition, or any concerns about your heart health? Whilst we like to help wherever we can, this is a group for people specifically with heart and cardiovascular issues or their family and friends. If your main concern is drug testing, or potentially substance abuse, then there are probably much more appropriate groups on healthunlocked than the BHF.
Dear kassidy112
If you could give us the reason why you are "scared" of your Dr/Hospital etc finding out a level of nicotine in your blood, we maybe able to help you especially if it is heart related.
If "nicotine" is a code for an illegal drug that you have taken, then tell us, you will not be judged here.
Any concerns you have with your Dr/hospital must be addressed, for if your hiding anything from them during or after your tests then you will only hinder your results and delay any help that can be offered you, { if help is needed }
In this day and age there are procedures and protocols in place ensuring that all get the health treatment they need { and rightly so } regardless of their circumstances, social status or sexual orientation.
Take care
. If you are having any kind of test they should tell you exactly what they are testing you for . You should ask before the test exactly what am I being tested for. . I hope that reassured you .
When you say ‘scared’, are you going to be in trouble or risk any repercussions? As nicotine isn’t illegal, although best avoided, I can’t see that you have reason to be scared.
Have they told you that unless you quit they are unable to help you? If so, maybe be honest with yourself and the Drs and ask for help to quit?
If you are going to have a Cardiac Procedure, you will probably have a blood test and from it they can tell if you smoke . Is this your concern????
Hello Kassidy. It depends what they are testing you for. A Urine Test is normally to detect Nicotine!
