Hi, I had a HA last November resulting in 4 stents fitted , while having this done consultants tried putting in a 5th stent in my Diagonal Branch. They Had no luck after several attempts and decided to leave that one. Nearly a year has gone past and I still have sharp pains and dull aches on the left side of my chest. My GP has since treated me for anxiety but this has not made the pains go away. I don’t get out of breath when pushing myself, however I don’t feel 100% and know my own body. Has anyone had the same diseased diagonal branch which was left untreated ? I am on all the usual meds. My concern was they tried to stent it first time, so will it get worse and how important is this ?
many thanks in advance if anyone has answers?

Sorry to hear that, I had stents near the D1 diagonal branch of the LAD but not in it as part of my 6 stent treatment. I assume it was one of your larger branches to even attempt a stent. The drugs you are on should stabilise things and reduce the chance of blockage but if I were you I'd ask for a cardiac stress test to see how you are recovering and understand if the partial blockage is causing you pain. This might allay your anxiety or provide evidence there is still an issue.
It might be the cardiac team ran out of time last time if they emplaced 4 stents (I was told when i had my first 3 that they can only use a certain amount of contrast dye which limits the time for angioplasty so I had to go back 8 weeks later for 3 more)
You might also ask the cardiologist to see if you can get on the list for a further angioplasty to treat the diagonal.
Whether you can get all of this on the nhs or have to go private might indicate whether the cardiologist believes the problem is urgent or not.
Hi Thanks for that information. I had a stress treadmill test which was fine. Like I say I don’t get breathless, I have taken a break from work now, as I was getting very fatigued and still having the pain. I have an TTE scan this month so maybe this may shed some light ? Thanks again
