I'm so overwhelmed it's been 5 weeks since I was diagnosed with heart failure I had a traumatic stress MRI last week it appears I have blocked arteries. My angiogram is booked for 3 weeks time. It's been such a lot so fast! I worry about doing too much I'm extremely lazy so I guess the chance of overdoing it are slim! But I get chest discomfort just walking upstairs!

i would just take it easy till you have the angiogram. Try not to get to stressed. The angiography itself is not to bad, where I had mine I was offered sedation which doesn't put you out but makes you relaxed. British Heart foundation have a very good video which explains the angiogram. I don't know if you have had your preassessment yet, but that's a good chance to ask any thing that worrying you. I have had 2 this year and worst thing was the bruising but the fades eventually.

I have heart failure too which was diagnosed following a heart attack. I’ve had two angiograms, one as an emergency which I remember only vaguely and the second about ten days later. I was more nervous about the second one as I was more aware of what was going on, but it was pain free and they gave me a sedative to calm my nerves. I can also recommend the Pumping Marvellous heart failure charity as they have some easy to understand guides about heart failure (or an inefficient heart as they prefer to call it). I’m only 51 and have really struggled with the diagnosis and accepting what this means for me is an ongoing process. Good luck and I hope your angiogram goes well.

Hello :-)

The moment you hear heart failure it feels like it is saying stop still don't move but heart failure can mean all different things they put everything under that title

You will feel overwhelmed it is a lot to take in and quite normal but you are in good hands now keep telling yourself that when you feel everything feels to much

Until you have that angiogram you won't know exactly how much things are blocked up , take it easy keep pottering about where it is comfortable and it will not be long before you know exactly what is what and hope you come back and let us know when you do :-) x

You need to wait for the angiogram but your comment about being extremely lazy struck me. Does that translate to lack of exercise, lack of fitness and being overweight?

I am not suggesting that prior to the angiogram you should start a fitness regime but if losing weight might help it might be worth looking at this route
