Experience at Papworth and Barts

Hello everyone, I will be having mitral valve replacement at some point… I’ve got to have an angiogram next week and then discuss hospitals with my Cardiologist.

He mentioned Papworth and Bart’s, does anyone have any experience in either of these two for heart surgery?

He said Bart’s might have a shorter waiting list as Papworths Mitral valve specialists have left/retired…?

How do you decide which hospital to go to?

I completely understand your anxiety. I am waiting on my mitral valve surgery too and took advice from my Cardiologist as to which surgeon was best for mitral valve surgery. This is only my personal experience but I think it’s worth researching which surgeon is most experienced in this particular area of heart surgery then that may dictate which hospital you should/could attend.
