Heart valve disease and cause of breathlessness

I read a post here recently about someone who suffered from breathlessness, for which a cause had not been found. I have been waiting for results from an echocardiogram done 5 weeks ago and although I expect a diagnosis of aortic stenosis, on the basis of breathlessness and severely reduced capacity for effort, I am fearful that I too may be told that the cause of my breathlessness has not be found. How common is this result after an echo scan, ecg, chest Xray and chemical stress test. I also suffer from permanent atrial fibrillation.

Hi Rose. I too have been breathlessness. An echo might show something up but I had an angiogram. It showed that my mitral valve was leaking in 3 places plus one leak in my atrium. This obviously has caused a lot of breathlessness. Waiting for lung function test to see if I can withstand a general anaesthetic and then I will have open heart surgery. What did your echocardiogram show?
