constrictive pericarditis

My husband - aged 51 - has had a recent (July 2022) diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis. I am looking to understand more about the condition and how it is typically treated / managed - in the UK?

He has been taking steroids- Predisnolone- since Dec 2020 due to a lung condition/ pleural effusion - which was finally diagnosed as pulmonary sarcoidosis in May 2022 .

It is possible the steroid usage has caused the problems with the pericardium but this remains unclear. His heart was declared fit and healthy when the lung condition ‘started’.

A better understanding of what we need to do next is very much needed.

Our confidence that my husband is getting the right treatment is low - given poor communication, delays at every stage and a lack of clear direction going forward …

Hello RFT1,

Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you give the BHF helpline a call and speak to one of the cardiac nurses. They are very knowledgeable and hopefully will be able to help.
