Sorry Mitral not sure where that’s spelling came from
Hi. I’m not sure. Why don’t you give the British heart foundation nurses a ring as they might know. Mine was due to the leaflets on the valve not closing properly.
I tried yesterday but although pleasant she was a little cold and I left the call more stressed than I was
Hi. That’s a shame. I do think that mild regurgitation is common as we age but I don’t really know why. It’s great news that you’ve got no structural abnormalities in the valve as this would be the usual culprit. I suspect the only person who can tell you for sure is a Cardiologist who has access to your scans etc. I don’t know what your financial situation is but a private consultation with a cardiologist is around £150-£200. I can’t guarantee they’d have the answers you want but it’s an option. Or perhaps go back to your gp and see if there is anything they can help with. I think there’s a lot of people who feel they’ve had insufficient information about their conditions. Perhaps you could contact PALS at the hospital where you were seen and see if they can advocate for you. They might be able to open up the lines of communication between you and the cardiologist.
