Fear of GTN spray

Hello I recently posted here about difficulties with Bisoprolol and got some good advice and feedback so thank you for that. I need a bit more help please. I have been given GTN spray but I'm frightened to use it.i know that's daft but a few year ago I was given it and my heart rate went wild. It was so frightening as it so fast and wouldn't slow down and we ended up having a paramedic. I was told this can happen. I mentioned this to the cardiology but they said that was unusual but still gave it to me. I just wondered if this happens to anyone here and how they deal with it.

Hello :-)

I can understand when you have had a bad experience how it will leave you full of fear

I am surprised that even though you experienced this they still gave you one to use but then they know better than I would been the professionals

Could you talk to your Doctor or pharmacists about this get their opinion ?

Do you feel you need it at the moment ?

I am sorry this maybe not much help but I would call my Doctor or pharmacist and there are the BHF Nurses you could give a ring they are excellent to

Make those calls and let us know how you get on :-) x

Thankyou I did tell my GP znd the cardiac nurse but they just seemed to brush it aside even though I explained the paramedics stayed with me while getting remote advice until it came down. I will try and talk to the pharmacy as I now finding most days I would love to be zble to ease the chest pain. I'm due to have a scan in a couple of weeks so might know more then.

This is so annoying when you are dismissed like this I can only imagine how you must feel The BHF Nurses would be good to talk to as well

You have lost confidence in the spray and understandable they should be supporting you

It would be good if you could be with a Nurse and take it and see if you have a reaction as it might not happen again but you would feel secure knowing someone was there

Let me know if you get anywhere tomorrow with it and hopefully the next 2 weeks will go quickly and you can get the answers you need :-) x
