Hi everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself as a new member here. I've had my HCM diagnosis for the best part of 8 years now and have been lucky enough to have lived relatively 'serious symptom' free during that time. I am not asymptomatic though as I get daily heart flutters, but have learnt to live with them and am no longer scared by them, having had regular testing by way of holter monitors, ECG's and treadmill tests. A couple of things have changed recently. I've changed jobs and work is now more mentally challenging, and I've joined a gym and am using the pool between 3-4 times a week. In line with this, my heart flutters have increased and a couple of weeks ago were causing me issues at night as my anxiety grew and I was struggling to disengage and therefore get to sleep. During this same period I was very tired at night and feeling virusey, but I didn't test for Covid as I'd already had it in January and assumed it wouldn't be that again so soon. I thought it could be a mixture of reasons causing these increased flutters. And maybe I was telling myself it could've been a spot of long Covid exacerbating my already present symptoms. But now I'm thinking could it be the exertion in the pool? I don't mad in there and take it fairly easy. I tend to go at lunch but then the flutters came after tea last night (which admittedly was a takeaway curry, too much salt?!)...The reason for the the post is to see if there's anyone on here with HCM that has seen their symptoms increase when they've had Covid or during the period where they had it. I just want to eliminate things in my mind and nail down if there's anything I can do to reduce the flutters. PS - I've spoken to the arhyythmia nurse and have ordered a heart monitor which is due to be fitted in a couple of weeks (emergency with the NHS now means a month long wait!) - Cheers in advance for any thoughts
