CHD and early retirement on poor health grounds

Hi Everybody, I'm new here, but nevertheless I'm gonna jump straight in! I'm 63, and I was diagnosed with coronary heart disease back in 2020. Never saw it coming as I have always maintained a decent level of fitness, even in to my 50s. I'm now slowing down and not taking on so much these days - not just because of my heart condition, but also as a result of other physical ailments which have come to me with age. I also have issues with mental health wellbeing, which have been born out of losing loved ones during the COVID19 pandemic, especially my mother who I cared for during her battle with Alzheimers.

I am convinced that given my age and compromised health, my best option to live out the rest of my life is to take early retirement as my health begins to fail me. Like most of us, I've been paying in to the system all my working life, so I don't feel that it's too much to ask for the 'powers that be' to contribute to what I want.

So, just wondered if others have a similar issue on their agenda and what experiences you've had.
