Pains when taking deep breaths.

It’s been 4 weeks now since my last heart attack and I’m still getting pains in my heart area when I’m taking deep breaths or if I yawn. Not every day though, just sometimes. It seems like I’m just waiting for my next heart attack. This is not living. I’ve seriously had enough of feeling absolutely horrible. I’ve been to and from the hospital half a dozen times since they discharged me. There’s nothing wrong is all they can say after several hours and two blood tests each time I go for help. The pain doesn’t show up on the heart monitor or ECG. I’m not making it up, why don’t they help me? I can’t remember the last time I had a good night sleep. I’m too afraid incase I don’t wake up. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hello, just thought I would share my experience as it may help. HA March 21 put on usual meds and started to feel fine. Then a couple of weeks after starting BHF excercises developed chest pain/soreness. After 2 trips to A&E it was discovered the exercises had damaged my chest cartilage. Was advised not to commence again. My cardiologist decided I didn’t need an Angiogram but in September started with a different chest pain resulting in another HA it was Angina. This time I had an Angiogram and a stent and the pain went. Obviously I changed my Cardiologist and my present one is amazing. Good Luck

Thank you. I’ve had 3 stents fitted because of this heart attack. I’ve not done any exercises yet as I’m too afraid to overdo things. I’ve got my first appointment next week with the rehabilitation department. A dr.s appointment tomorrow to investigate if I’ve got angina. My GP just wants to send me to A&E all the time but this time I’ve said that’s not helping. Fingers crossed I can get help. Good luck with your health.

Your GP has to send you to A&E as he is not qualified to act above the cardiac experts. Have you tried reducing your anxiety levels as most likely this is the cause of most of your distress. Read a lot of these posts and anxiety is almost always present in most posts and can cause a lot of physical symptoms mimicking heart issues. The pain when you take deep breaths or positional change is almost certainly muscle strain and not heart related at all. If you never had a HA or stents at all would the discomfort really bother you. Deep breathing does not relate to angina. Best of luck with your health for the future.

That’s exactly what happened to me. Every time I contacted my doctors they informed me to go to A&E. To be honest that is where we need to be.After my stent I felt every little niggle but six months on it doesn’t bother me. Don’t worry the medics will sort you out.
