Recently my dad has had a stroke he's in atrial fibrillation permanently and has been diagnosed with heart valve disease after a echocardiogram
Can this be inherited? Do I need to let my doctor know ?

There is a BHF webpage on Inherited Heart Disease. Valvular problems do not specifically feature on it. You do not say what the valve issues are but Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease is the most common. My father, his brother and their father all died of heart attacks and I needed a quadruple bypass despite my cholesterol pre statins being 4.2. When I expressed concern as I approached my father's age the GP was fairly dismissive as my BP and cholesterol level were fine. My cardiologist said my family history was horrendous and I should have been on the radar!
So I would suggest finding out exactly what your father's issue is and getting BP and cholesterol checked if you have not done so already. And if not doing so eat a healthy diet, exercise, take alcohol in moderation and do NOT smoke!
Thanks for the reply The information we have been given is poor tbh
He had a stroke then after he was out of hospital a echocardiogram was done through outpatient doctor then called us to say they are sending his notes to cardiologist but doesn't think anything else will be done as he's on all the right meds blood thinners, bisoprolol, etc 9 tablets altogether
I think from what was said before he left hospital it's aortic valve disease
We are waiting for cardiologist now
