Does anyone take flecainide for PVCs? What has been your results for taking it? How are the side effects?

I took flecainide for PVCs for a few months and I think it reduced them a lot, unlike other meds I tried. I never had a holter while I was on it, but the frequent fluttering in my chest stopped. I could even tell when I forgot to take a dose because I would start feeling PVCs again. I ultimately decided I did not want to take it long-term, though, so I am getting an ablation in a couple of weeks.

So my ablation was unsuccessful. The location where the PVCs coming from cannot be ablated safely. So I am stuck with the drugs. I am too scared to try flecainide at the moment, worried it will do more harm than worth.

Hope your ablation goes well.

HiI was on Sotalol for Paroxysmal AFib and had 1000's of PVCs. Sotalol wasn't very effective for my Afib so I was changed to Flecanide 200 ( slow release) x1 a day. Although I was not taking this medication for PVCs one of the welcome "side effects" is my PVCs disappeared ( the ones I could really feel). After my last EKG it seems I have a few PACs now instead but I don't feel them. Of course this is just my case and I have no idea if it might work for you but if your Dr feels Flecanide will help why not try? I also take Bisoprolol 3.75 1xday. I don't suffer any side effects apart from a little less get up and go but I think that is the beta blocker.

Take care.

Thank you, I am very nervous about the ablation. What is your PVC burden? Mine is about 25% and when I was taking the flecainide, I felt like a different person, it really was nice. I understand not wanting to take it, though. I have debated with myself a lot about just staying on it instead of having an ablation. I was on a very low dose and had minimal side effects - maybe it would be worth trying it for a bit and see how you feel?

The cardiologist has said if they settle down I can just take the flecainide intermittently (pill in a pocket) style. My burden was only 9%. I chose ablation due to the mental affects the PVCs were having on my life. They really really upset me and I could feel every single one. The ablated 2 spots but couldn't do the third location due to safety/risks. So I dare say that is the spot that is the one that annoys me the most. They say to "get on with life" but it is very difficult living with them on a daily basis.

I hope your procedure goes well and you get some relief! You deserve it!

I know it's not quite the same but I take this daily for SVT and have done since my ablation was unsuccessful in 2016. I have tolerated this extremely well and don't feel as though I have any side effects unlike when I was taking Bisoprolol.
