Bradycardia

Hi I’ve just recently had a ecg done. Results on finding were bradycardia and also my heart skips beats too. On my 24hr tape there was 11 times of bradycardia only lasting a few beats mainly late afternoon. And also the skipping of heart also. When this happens I do feel it in my chest. This leaves me very tired, weak and breathless only lasting short periods. But I do find I’m always having a dull ache in my chest where my heart is. I alway have cold feet and some occasions weak legs and new symptoms would be very cold hands now and they feel weak. My doctor has said this all okay and normal, Im not to worry but I find it affecting me in my day to day work and I’m just exhausted and really disappointed that there was no referrals to find out what’s maybe causing this with my heart. Before having my daughter two years ago I was very healthy and fit and just would of found my heart racing. But this year I’ve not been myself atall, and I feel like I don’t know where to go from this investigation now or who to speak to to get more testing done. Any help information would help.

Hi Jaymcn, your symptoms sound very much like mine, but I haven't had a heart attack. What meds are you on? I have been put onto Bisoprolol (2.5mg) and the cardiac nurse seems to think that might be causing the chest pain and weakness. I'm also on Apixaban and Ramipril. I'm due to have a 24 hour tape in 2 weeks time to see what's gouing on. You might want to check with your GP if you're on too high a dose.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for responding ruby. I hope your 24hr tape comes back with a good indication of what’s happening.

Hi Jay please try calling the cardiac nurses on the bhf HelpLine. I've found them very helpful. I think they are only Monday to Friday though.

Hello

Well done for reaching out. Have you blacked out during these episodes? I have sinus node bradycardia which led to several instances of syncope (fainting) when my heart paused. I was fitted with a pacemaker. Please take good care.

I'm just catching up with recent posts. I agree with everyone else: talk to the BHF nurses, speak to your GP again (or another one in the practice) to relay your concerns and ask for a referral to a cardiologist. I think it's fair to want to understand the symptoms that caused the drs to give you an ecg. Good luck. :-)
