A small nip of “stones green ginger wine” it is alcohol but really helps me. I have COPD and find it warms my throat and helps with coughing. It is better than any cough medicine I have tried. You could also try equal amounts of lemon juice and honey mixed together. Good luck.

With your recent medical history you are probably on a host of medication. To protect your stomach you have probably also been given a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) like Omeprazole or Lansoprazole. In some cases this makes people more sensitive to spicing so I would suggest caution with ginger.

Cold cures are a general no-no for us hearties and the usual treatment is Paracetamol and plenty of fluids. If not diabetic maybe try honey and lemon?

As Hidden has suggested you should take a Covid test as the Delta variant often starts with cold symptoms.

BRONCHO STOP pastilles from chemist. Best I have ever used in my life and really work! Nice taste. Natural ingredients not chemicals. Give them a try or ask doc if its ok.

Hi, stock up well on good quality blackcurrant jam. Put at least 3 teaspoons in a teacup and add just off boiling water. Stir until the jam is dissolved and sip. It doesn't work with blackcurrant squash, has to be jam. The relief is temporary but it does work. I feel your pain, I'm on my 5th week of that cold, the cough has subsided quite a lot now, but still present. I was only diagnosed in August so am very new to what I can and can't take. The other thing I used was Strepsils for cough and sore throat. They taste disgusting, but they do work. I also did a PCR test. By the way, don't necessarily expect your cold to last as long, I'm immuno compromised due to another condition, which is really aggravating as I have always been the one who never got colds, etc.
