First time posting, I hope someone can help me 🙂 I have restrictive cardiomyopathy since I was born, and because of that I suffer of heart failure. I also got liver cirrhosis since a few years but it's under control. In the last year I've started feeling really nauseous and dizzy at night, after I lay down for some time I feel bad and it's getting really annoying because I am not able to sleep more than a few hours consecutive. Usually if I get up, eat and drink something I feel a little better, but obviously at night I would prefer to sleep ahaha. Anyone else have or had the same problem? I take furosemide and spironolactone for the fluid retention. My gp told me it could be caused by being a little dehydrated, I think maybe it could be because I don't eat too much during the day, I don't have too much appetite. Any advise is much appreciated! Thanks

I was only on furosemide for a short time, just to get the swelling in my legs down. GP said he didn't want me on it for long. It gave me gout. My left leg is swollen more than the right and especially at the end of the day. When I get up in the morning both legs are normal without swelling.
There is the possibility that I might receive a pace-maker as my heart beat is very slow. That might make a difference to my legs. Have to wait and see.

Hi Laurap18, The two medicines that you mentioned I have taken before. I no longer take because furosemide (activated my GERD) and spironolactone (nauseated and felt very ill& dizzy). Both have some type of sulfate in it. Do you have an allergy to Sulfate? My body reacts to any drugs that have any type of sulfur in them. I saw my ear drops with sulfate (ites) burn the out side of my ear when draining out. I could imagine what it would do to the inside of my body. Some of us have different reactions to medicine. Your gp is right about the dehydration. Dehydration can open up another whole lot of other problems. Listen to your own body because it is unique to you. Medicine is to help your body not hurt it. Hopefully your gp is listening to your concern and helps you with this situation.
