Part of heart NOT WORKING 😳😒

My heart has part that doesnt move. It bothers me as I was only told last night by a medic in A +E. Seeking some help., please. I had some chest pain yesterday again after only 10 days of the last A+E admission. It's Atypical says the cardiologist last time but this time the medic gave me that news of the part that isn't working. I have heart disease and it was stented in May.

The problem is I can't get soneone right now to speak to me. I'd like to know more but also what can i do long term (if I'm here). This keeps going on my head is not good to be honest.

Who can talk to me? What does it mean? A + E just said they cannot sort it right now but I dont have a follow up with cardiology. I asked if my cardiologist had seen the scan and was told he should have! I need to know dies the condition predate the stent or is this new.

I had ok Tropt last night and bp was slightly up but hr was 62-80bpm so thats good right?

I'm spiralling, i see that but I cant help this.

Please help πŸ™‚

Hello :-)

I am sorry you ended up in A&E and they just threw this at you and expect you to go home and be ok we would all be frightened and worried what does this mean

One thing I learnt was I have had 3 heart attacks and when I was in A&E they were general Doctors that can diagnose that you have but they do not have the same knowledge as when you get to see the Heart Specialists and I have to also say the A&E Doctors have frightened me before with their choice of words but again when I have got to see my Consultant it has eased my mind so much more when they have explained to me what has happened and what they can do and now they can do so much that these diagnosis don't and are not a life sentence anymore

You need to first thing find the number for your Consultants secretary contact them and tell them how this has affected you and you would like an urgent appointment with your Consultant

Also contact your Doctor and ask to speak with them they may be able to put pressure on the Hospital to get you an appointment

Try and I know it is not easy but not to think to far ahead your Consultant is the person that will have all the answers and in those answers they will be able to come up with something to give you many more years yet to come , it is fantastic what they can do nowadays keep focused on those positive thoughts till you get to speak to them

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Bekind28 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply it's really helped πŸ™‚

This has all just crept up on me, at 41 years old I did not think I would have these things.

I'm sorry to read you had heart attacks too that must be extremely difficult to live with for you and yours. The fact that you are here is a blessing for everyone including me right now. I really admire your strength ✊

So after calming down. I'm gonna leave a message for that consultant and like you say get the GP to chase it up too. I need the clarity I think. I would have sat and stewed, over thinking but I'm not now.

It's just a crap sandwhich they fed me with no bread really. U got to love those medics! He tried to help though andvin fact I know more than I did.

Anyway thanks again and if there's a time I can help you I'd be more than happy to.

Hello :-)

That is the attitude :-)

Deep breaths and tell yourself I will make it my mission to get this sorted next week and won't give in till I do ( and don't :-) )

If it helps my Dad had several heart attacks and heart issues at 42 he went on to have a quadruple Bypass at 50 he lived to be 77 and was not his heart that took him that was as strong as an ox and back in those days they were not as good as what they can do now !

I do realise it will be a shock when I had my first heart attack followed my 2 more even though I obviously have my Dads genes maybe it was still a shock and then when they said you need a triple heart Bypass or you have less than 2 years well I can tell you I was not strong then I was on the floor !

I am still struggling after having the Bypasses done I really am but we keep going and we get through this and you will to

Please let me know how you get on and remember again that now these Consultants and Surgeons do things we never thought were possible , so they will do the same for you :-) x

Hello StillDavid,

I agree with what BeKind28 has said. The A&E doctors, while generally fantastic at emergency treatment, are not specialist cardiologists. With the greatest of respect they are jacks of all trades; masters of none! I'm sure the A&E doctor was trying to help, but actually you need to discuss this with your specialist. The same can be said about GPs, too, but your GP may have access to more information on your stent, etc, from May. Worth asking them what they know, anyway.

I would email your cardiologist's secretary, if possible, rather than calling. That way you have time to consider exactly what you want to say and ask, before you press send, to make sure you've been clear and concise. If you get an email in response you can look back at it calmly in the cold light of morning!

If it were me I'd not only want to know what exactly happened in May and what damage (if any) has been done, but also what is the situation now; what is the plan for future monitoring or likely progression, if any; and is there anything you can be doing in the meantime to help yourself (diet & exercise, for example).

With best wishes, and I hope you get reassurance sooner rather than later!

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, and hope that a full diagnosis will allay your fears.

Its best to avoid going to A&E - call 111 instead. They get an ambulance arranged if there is any worries, and you get seen pretty quick in A&E when arriving by ambulance.

Each time I have been they do full tests on me, and I've seen at least one cardiologist. I've usually been kept in for a couple of days as well. Which is a pain, but it eases my anxiety.

Although I have been taken to the hospital with the 'best' heart departments, that may not happen in your area, so if you don't already know, find out which is best where you are.

I also pay to see a private cardiologist (about Β£150) and have found that well worth the money,

Sounds like you need to see your GP and ask for a referral to a Cardiologist.

I appreciate that might take time.

Reassurance is needed. The British Society for Heart Failure have some good films on their website. Heart muscles do regenerate but heart failure is a long term condition which one can mollify with good practice and meds. Getting the right advice and early diagnosis is important. Professionals rather than this forum. GP a good place to start, BSH website short term and try to remain positive.

Thats helpful thank you. The GP is trying and I have Cardiologist but its a wait to see him. The part of the heart that isn't moving I'm not sure of still but I don't think it'll change their decisions.

I'm still going through it with various symptoms, dizziness tightness, shaking even. They stopped the Ranolazine and halved the Atorvastatin and I thought it helped although today, again, I'm in a bad way.

I need to live and do my rehab instead of just being ill all the time. So fed up.

Don't attempt or rush big steps in recovery, it's a long term step by small step process which gives best results.

Hi Thatwasunexpected,

Apparently I had an MI (cardiac event?) in May which was before the stenting. I believe it was the chest pain I'd had alot of. I didn't think I had a heart attack tho πŸ€”

I'm coming to terms with it all and u guys have helped alot! πŸ‘Just wish those good days / hours would last so I can do more cardio exercise.
