Has anyone been diagnosed with costochondritis after having pericarditis and/or an effusion? Four months I’ve had ongoing worsening rib pain that’s very painful to touch, also slight swelling at the top of my ribs , tests ruled out my worst fear that the pericarditis had flared up again but the pain I get from costochondritis is sometimes as painful as when I had pericarditis .

I regularly get costochondritis as part of fibromyalgia; nothing to do with my heart. Sometimes it feels like a heart attack but if I touch my chest it hurts. I got an anti inflammatory gel from my doctor which helps a bit. Otherwise I alternate a hot water bottle with an ice pack.
