Thankyou so much to all of you that have replied to my first post. I have been poorly for a while, I thought I had a chest infection, as my lungs are pretty rubbish as well as my heart. I had an Echo done a while back and the report from it came through over the weekend. If anyone can help me translate I would be very grateful :-Results show the Bio-prosthetic with aortic valve is4.4ms with a max/mean gradient of78/51mmHg.Measurements suggest prosthetic aortic valve stenosis. There is also a mild to moderate valvular AR transvalvular jet directed toward the anterior Mitral valve leaflet, and possibly a paravalvular leak at the 12 o'clock position. The left ventricle is borderline dilated with low systolic function. Mitral annular calcification is seen with mild central MR. Mildly dilated LA 5. Mild TR - estimated PASP37-41mmHG.
After speaking to my Consultant I had a telephone appointment with a GP who told me that the chest X-ray I had done while in A&E last Monday, 5hours! Showed that my lungs are filling up with fluid and that's why I got poorly so quickly. The Dr I saw in A&E just said it looked like I was recovering and gave me more steroids! I have been told to go to my local Hospital next Wednesday to meet the surgeons who have been asked to look at my case. I know the stitches have been stretching and causing a tear and the stenosis but the rest is gobbledy gook. Please help if you can.

Hi, Third time AVR isn't something I would wish on anyone. I've been there myself so have a lot of empathy for you.
From my experience and possibly your own, meeting the surgeons suggests that they want to discuss the surgery.
With regards to the contents of the letter, I wish I could help, but, to be honest, it's a lot of doctors jargon to me. I've always preferred to wait up until I speak with a Cardiologist re-Echo results rather than second guess what they mean. That way I remove anxiety.
I had something similar during the past 12 months with what the GP practice were convinced was a chest infection, pumped me full of Antibios and Steroids for months. It got worse until I eventually went to A&E, the doctor just gave me more steroids. They took Xrays, and she thought there was something there, but, didn't know what. The hospital got me back within a couple of weeks for an Echo, CT scan, appts with Chest Consultant and Cardiologist. I was quickly diagnosed with an Effusion and Heart Failure, which is now being dealt with.
Thankyou Heed1961 It can be a bit of a nightmare not understanding the jargon but ordinarily I remember words about gradient and stenosis which I understand. There's just so much in the actual letter that's proper jargon. Maybe I can try not to worry about it in the next 5 days ! 😄 take care
