Confusing reports

Hello all,

Bit of background info..

I've been suffering with heart palpitations, high heart rate, chest pains and blacking out during exertion when I've usually been fine exercising 6 days per week previously. Kept putting off going to the doctors until one night I had a very painful chest at bedtime, thought I'd sleep it off until an hour later I had am asthma attack for the first time in 15 years. Finally saw the Dr 2 weeks later and got referred for testing

Had my first appointment with cardiac nurse who was very dismissive saying I was only 29, fit and no indicators so pointless sending me for a scan. She only referred me as I insisted my auntie died very young of a heart attack and my uncles have all had heart issues.

I was sent this report and can't understand any of it. I had my perfusion mri last week so waiting for those results as the consultant thinks my issues stem more from my valves and brought on during stress and exertion.

The past few weeks I'm finding it harder and harder to exercise, lots of palpitations lasting longer than usual, really tired and very tight chest at night. Also keep getting the most horrendous heartburn but more around the middle of my collarbone even though I haven't eaten anything that would warrant it

I hate going to the doctors so never know what's normal and what to worry about. I had a letter after this one just stating 3 vessel disease and indicatorsof valve damage but no explanationof what this means or whether I'm safe to exercise as normal.

Hi, I don't think I can offer much direct advice as I don't have the same diagnoses and don't have the expertise to translate your letter. However I can recommend ringing BHF and speaking to the nurses who are very helpful. They should be able to explain the terminology in your report if this hasn't been explained. I would talk to the cardiac nurse re exercise.Best of luck and all good wishes.

You need to talk to people. BHF nurse good starting point but your GP has a duty of care. Keep a log of symptoms. Write down your questions before talking to either your cardiologist or GP. You should have received a copy of a letter sent by your cardiologist to your GP. On that letter the name of the cardiologist should appear. Get hold of their secretary and ask for a call. Keep chasing and let us know how you get on.

Hi, I can somehow relate to your story. I have history of congenital heart disease and I am currently waiting for aortic valve replacement. I do get very random and strong palpitations, particularly during exercising and if my heart rate goes beyond a certain frequency, I start getting irregular heartbeat, with long pauses that make me dizzy and basically faint. My cardiologist is investigating, as the issue got worse in the last few months.... Do you get sort of same symptoms when you experience your palpitations? Like your heart is beating at half the speed?

If it was me, I would stop exercising until I had clearance from my GP. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and I hope you find answers soon x
