Water Intake With Heart Problems

Hello,

After numerous HA/CA and 3 cardiac interventions since December 2018 I have now started back the gym and started to add weights in.

This isn't the issue, the issue i have is that i need to drink plenty of water and have been drinking upwrards of 3lts a day recently. I thought I would check this out and I have seen a number of items all saying the same thing that a person with heart disease should not be drinking more than between 1.5ltr-2ltr per day as more than this can cause excessive weight and water retention and bloating meaning it will make your heart have to work harder.

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Thank you,

Simon

Are you in HF? Have you been told to restrict fluids to a certain amount?

Either way, I suggest you speak to your cardiologist and ask him the question.

I had a SCA in 2018 I don’t have HF. Am now training most days, cardio & weights, I drink between 2 & 4+ ltrs a day depending on weather, training intensity etc I asked my cardiologist if this was ok and he said for me it was perfectly fine.

Ok cool, it's why I ask as not heard of this before. I will clarify with Cardiac Rehab also.

Thanks for your reply Hidden 👍
