Had open heart surgery in 2017 new biological aortic valve I was 63 when this was done but do not know how long this will last and will have to another one. I wondered if anyone else could let me know if they had this operation.

I think it depends on the type of valve you were given, the older biological valves lasted about 10 to 12 years. I am 64 and had an aortic valve replacement op at the beginnings of April and was given one of the newer biological valves - Resilia Inspiris heart valve. It is supposed to last about 20 or so years or longer as far as I am aware.
Hi, I had the same in January this year. I was told around 20years life span or possibly longer.
I believe the Resilia Inspiris was only approved in late 2018 so you will have had the earlier with an approximate 10 year span. The 20+ years is still a prediction as no real life data.
Hi I am just about to have this particular valve fitted and the surgeon told me 20 years and that was a minimum expectancy
Thank you for replying I was told at the time I may have to have another one because I was 63 when I had this one. If it any help I have been fine and no problems have an echocardiogram every year and fit and healthy. All the best for your operation are you having open heart surgery?
