Picky HF charity shop

Took some donations including a large mirror to local HF charity shop & was told couldn’t take mirror as no room to put it. Had walked carrying donation bag and mirror & was breathless when got there. Since when was HF charity shop so picky - very disappointed had to take mirror back home and was tired out. Never again!!

Hello, not sure why you're telling us - this is a peer to peer support forum for people with heart conditions which has no connection with charity shops!

As a person with heart failure I think I can comment on this forum. As an avid supporter of the HF I was expressing my disappointment at a recent experience, so that is my connection. Thankyou for listening!

Sorry but you've only joined this forum on 11th June, and your profile offered no clues about you having heart failure, so your post does just sound like a rant about a shop.

Didn’t think we had to advertise our Heath issues, thought it was a public forum😂

As said this support forum unconnected to the shops. During lockdown many people had a clear out creating alent up demand to donate. I know people in a local and they have a skip around the back as a lot of goods are of poor quality. This includes dog eared coffee stained books, dangerous electrical equipment, dirty worn out others, etc. although I am sure it doesn't apply in your case. As much as possible is recycled. With larger items it is worth phoning ahead. Thanks for reading.

It's not a tip for things you don't want, unfortunately. They still have to be able to sell it to generate funds for the charity.

Didn’t think it was which is why I only ever donate stuff in excellent condition. Where in my post did I say it was, what I said was that they said they didn’t have room not that is was crap🤨

Always best to check what they will take.

It is very disappointing when you've put yourself out to make a donation. Every area is different - mine has a small charity shop which sells mainly clothes, card etc but also a very large, splendid furniture shop a few doors away from that one, and they collect items, 3-piece suites, sideboards , dining sets and so on. Might be worth your while phoning your local shop to ask if they have those facilities or if they have a number you could try to enquire. Possible other charities have similar
