On my fifth week of rehab following a heart attack . Had anyone experienced being very sensitive to UV . Obviously recently the sun has made an appearance and unlike my other summers my exposed skin has gone very red.. It has to be linked to the cocktail of heart drugs I am currently on . Has anybody else experienced the same please

Some meds can have this side effect, you don't say what meds you are on!
So best thing is to look at the EMC (electronic medicines compendium) for each of your meds and see if it is listed as a side effect, then speak to your GP/Cardiologist to discuss.

Amiodarone is a medication that is sometimes used to correct an abnormal heart rythmn. If you are taking amiodarone, then it is likely to be the cause. It makes your skin very sensitive to sun.
Along with many others
“Cardiac or blood pressure medications (amiodarone and quinidine; calcium channel blockers such as nifedipine and diltiazem; ACE inhibitors such as enalapril; and angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as valsartan)”
lol
Don’t think normal heart meds do this. There’s a drug called methotrexate that can.
Statins can make one sun-sensitive as well, according to this: singlecare.com/blog/medicat...
I am in the same place as you Chelsea. I don't think my medication does anything to alter the sun rays. I don't like the sun anyway. Summer months are very hard to deal with. I would suggest you stay away from the sun just to see if it makes any difference. All the best.
Amioderone definitely gives high sensitivity to the sun and you can burn very easily.
Hi Chelsea55I too was comfortable with the sun until I started the heart medications, and now it's 2 yrs. Later. Now I have to think way ahead about where I'm going to be, and what clothes to bring in case I'm in the sun for any length of time. Sad fact is it doesn't take much time outside to get extremely burned.
Good Luck!

Thanks Dusty, good advice thank you
If you're on Amiodarone, sensitivity to sunlight is a well-known side-effect. bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...
