I am terrified! Diagnosed with Heart Failure mid April. I have always had palpitations, but was told they were not a problem. Now out of the blue my diagnosis. Has this happened to anyone else? It feels like a death sentence.

Heart failure
Morning Rodney10,
Welcome to the forum, there are many many of us here that have had that diagnosis. The term Heart Failure does sound so scary, but really it’s just our pump needs a bit of help and that’s the medications job. We can help ourselves with a good diet lots of us follow the Mediterranean one that BHF recommend. You will find lots of help with that on their website. If you smoke stop, take some gentle exercise, walking is a good one to start. It’s a really a scary place you have found yourself in but there is lots of members that will tell you it’s not a death sentence.
If you have any questions just post and someone will be along to help. Remember you are now a member of the Hearties family we are here to listen if you need to moan! Or we are here to lend a shoulder to lean on if that’s what you need.
Best wishes Pauline
Heart Failure is a 'catch all term' to indicate that your heart is not not working to optimum performance. Bit like saying your eye sight does not register as 6/6 or 20/20.
With your eyes, you get glass, and in extreme cases eye surgery - with your heart they try to use meds to fix the issue, but if that doesn't work, they use surgery.
Many on here have had surgery and will tell you that when you spend time in a heart surgery ward, you really do feel like an item on a production line, so fine tuned is their knowledge and experience of fixing these various conditions.
Be concerned and enquire as to what you can do to help by all means. Educate yourself, definitely - but do not spend all day and night stressing about it. If it was that bad, you would not have left hospital 👍
Thanks Brand, that puts things into perspective.
You have all managed to reassure me , at last. Thank you so much.
