Writing on behalf of a family member....
In July 2018, at the age of 63, I had a life saving operation at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to repair Dissection B of the Thoracic Aorta and a Penetrating Aortic Ulcer, under the care of Mr A Duncan. The 80 stitch incision started next to the left shoulder blade through the ribcage and finished at the front. I was kept in the theatre under anaesthetic for 36 hours. On discharge I wasn't given any advice or recovery schedule and was told by the Consultant that this operation had NEVER been done before at Blackpool Victoria. I am still suffering with False Patent Lumen and am being monitored by the Cardiology staff. I'd like to be in touch with anyone else who has had such an operation to share experiences.
TL:DR I had my Thoracic Aorta replaced and would like to know if anyone else has undergone such an operation and what their experience and recovery has been like.
