Hello everyone ❤

I am 28 years old, 25 weeks pregnant and I've had a pacemaker for 3 years (due to complete heart block).

I had a routine echo done alongside my pacemaker check last Thursday 25/02.

It found that my heart rate was high and that I had an EF of 30%.

I was in hospital for a week to be started on beta blockers.

I am now taking 3.75mg of bisoprolol.

I have no symptoms at all but now I am crippled with anxiety that something terrible is going to happen.

I have a 10year old daughter and a 20month son also.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Or have any advice.

Thanks in advance. ❤

Hello Nicoled92,

I can understand how anxious this is making you feel. The best advice I can give is to ask one of the professionals (GP/Cardiologist) taking care of you if they can explain things and give you some reassurance. I find it helps me if I understand what’s going on & what the meds are for, etc. Then when I ask a question I’m more likely to understand the answer, or at least realise there & then that I don’t understand the answer & can get clarification!

Being anxious isn’t going to help your heart rate. There are some good apps available to help with calming, deep breathing, etc, although with 2.5 children I don’t expect that’s an easy option!

Hopefully finding out more about your current issues will help to reassure you that you’re in good hands & something terrible isn’t going to happen.

Best wishes,

Hi Nicoled

I have been sent a copy of your post by health unlocked because I have posted about AF/Bisoprolol previously, but I am not sure I an help massively. I have had high blood pressure for many years but suffered an AF experience about 2 years ago. After treatment I was prescribed Bisoprolol as part of a continuing medication. Since taking it I have had no adverse reaction nor any further occurrence of AF.

Hope this helps in some wY and wish you well with both recovery and anxiety.

Kindest regards

Tel

Hello! I can understand how scary it all is at the moment but I am sure they are taking good care of you and carefully going to look at the best medication for you. Bisoprolol is very good at reducing heart rate and helping your heart pump more easily. I hope you get an opportunity to speak to the cardiologist to ask about specific questions to do with your pregnancy too. There is a brilliant website and Facebook group called pumping Marvellous who might have some good information too and there are people of all ages who are part of it, including some who are pregnant or who were with low EF percentages. They are really supportive. Sending best wishes to you and I hope things will improve soon and you feel more confident x
