Hi Victor109. I was lucky to have the operation privately at the Alexandra, Cheadle. But I do know you can get it on the NHS if you specifically request it. Where are you located ?

I have my AVR las September 2020 but information was 2 tips of valve pig organic or mechanical, the doctor suggest mexhanical but with poor information about pills coabulance. Actually, I know the other tipy of valve like resilia and the surgeon say is not information a new valve and the hospital is not avaible for this valve. Although, in occasions one patient have this valve in the same hospital Royal Papworth.

My bicuspid valve caused no problem for seventy years. Quite a fit person. Stenosis set in so i had a resilia edwards inspiris valve 2/5/2020. I had the privilege of two surgeons to discuss which valve. They raised the issue that the latest valves has no precedence, so they reverted to the resilia edwards inspiris.

Improvements are being made all the time.

Hi, I am 38 and I opted for a tissue valve, the Inspirius Resilia one which is claiming to give more than 25 years!I have only had this done privately a couple of days ago (London Bridge) and currently on the recovery path. Things are getting better day by day and my reason for choosing tissue valve is that I don’t want to be on anticoagulants for the rest of my life considering I am 38, which might raise other issues especially me being diabetic. The technology is developing so much and my consultant assured me that even if the tissue valve failed tomorrow he can do a valve replacement using TAVI and not required to go thru the sternum again as he managed to position the valve in a certain way to be able to operate via catheter next time, so worth having a discussion. Also to mention the sternum was cut minimally and not the traditional cut, so I am hoping the recovery to be quicker! Please do consider everything as every individual situation is different and it is always best to speak to your consultant who will make the best decision for you.

Thank you and glad to be a part of the AVR familia!
