Hi,

I was prescribed this drug a month after having a HA in October, on a low dosage but still gives me headaches, I started taking it in the afternoon as my headaches always came on mid afternoon after taking it at breakfast and hey presto it worked, did inform doctors and they said must be taken in morning so back to afternoon headaches.. anyone had similar issues or advice on when to take this medication?

Thanks

Jon

Usually the headaches settle in a week to ten days. It may be feasible to move to a split dose twice, and sometimes thrice, daily. However you need to talk to your GP about this option as it depends on the type of Isosorbide Mononitrate perscribed.

Hello Stamford1

I take my Isosorbide mononitrate tablets at 6pm and 11pm with my Cardiologist's approval.

The important issue is to have one long period between taking your tablets so you do not become tolerant of the nitrates.

Perhaps have another discussion with your GP about your options?

HiThanks for replying, I only take 25mg once a day and thought I had solved the problem by taking later in the day but the doctor I spoke to said morning is only time to take this drug which I thought was odd, I think she is writing to my cardiologist regarding this so will wait and see.

Thanks
