So yesterday I started getting palpitations again for what feels like forever since I last had (had the odd blip over the last 12 months but only usually one and then nothing) These seem to be random and not triggered by anything I can pin point. They are small and manageable but frequent. Went for a walk today and no issue, then after relaxing on the sofa they started and have been on and off for hours. Should I be concerned? I think they might have been triggered by the food and alcohol of christmas day. I dont have any other symptoms, no dizziness or shortness of breathe. Is it worth be bothering the GP about? Thanks all

Palpitations. Back after a long break from them!
Hello and welcome to the forum! A friend's reduced to the point of coming off medication by cutting out alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and spicy food. Hopefully it will settle over next few days. If not contact your GP on Tuesday or 111 if concerned. One problem (not the right word to describe it) is the longer you refrain from something the stronger the effect the next time you have it.
Thanks for the reply. I actually called 111 who referred me to A&E. Have been in there for 6 hours after having bloods and ecg. They said they could not really see anything but yet I am feeling them all the time. Guess it's a wait and see on the bloods. Unless nothing came back from that and they did not mention
In many ways I think it is good news they have found nothing. Hopefully things will settle in a day or two as any triggers clear your system. I would suggest you eat lightly including salad and fruit (not too much because of the fructose content). Let us know how you get on.
Daft obvious question do you drink much or any coffee? I have found some particular ones have a dramatic effect on me while other, supposedly stronger one's have none at all.
I normally only have 1 cup of coffee a day, but have not had any caffeine since yesterday. I dont seem to have a specific trigger which is odd.
I used to get pretty bad ones before my heart problems, but even after them and cutting right down I find certain ones will trigger them after just one cup. I'd try cutting it out altogether for a while.
Yeah I think that will be the plan. Am no stranger to palpitations, but these have been going on now for about 19 hours, so would like for them to stop
Are you drinking plenty of fluids, as in about 2.2 - 2.5 litres a day? Taking regular exercise?
I am and always have. Although I think it might have been over indulgence over the festive period. Have not drank, vaped or had caffeine and it seems to have calmed down completely now thank goodness
