Only if your condition worsens and/or you develop breathing difficulties. Over 80% people of those who catch CovID do not need hospitalisation. If in doubt ring 111.

How high is your BP? Or do you mean you are being treated for it?

Ian, as Michael implies, hopefully not necessarily in need of a hospital visit at this time. How do you actually feel? Have you been receiving the Government advice letters as an “Extremely Clinically Vulnerable” person? If not, then that reduces your risk, although you haven’t mentioned your age - the risk increases in the older generation. Whoever diagnosed you with Covid is the person who should have advised whether or not you were vulnerable and reassured you - they are the experts. As Michael advised, if in doubt, ring 111. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Sorry, Ian, I missed your post until now. How are you now? I hope you're having a mild case.

Your other conditions do not technically make you high risk to catch Covid, but I share your concern having caught it. Everyone is different in their response to Covid. If you have any concerns I would definitely call for advice (covid line and/or 111?) and mention your other problems. Unfortunately, problems of the aorta are not often well understood by non-specialists, and if they or your GP can't help, if you still have access to your Consultant(s) I would consider phoning their secretary for advice.

In terms of your high blood pressure and enlarged root and valve, and aneurysms, are you being monitored? i.e scanned for the valve, root and aneurysm (echo and CT), and having your high BP corrected. The latter is most important as you will know from your earlier rupture. Get it down to 120/80. Most doctors go by the NICE guidelines which say don't treat until above 140/90. This is inadequate for those of us with aortic problems as it is the short-term effect of high BP which counts, not the long term risk of atherosclerosis etc.
