Sleeping - what is normal?

The problem i find with chronic illness is that nothing stays the same! You expect it to but it doesn't. So I thought I was really suffering from exhaustion and tiredness but now my eyes constantly feel heavy with the need to sleep. And this is not dozing! Its off the planet deep sleep. I wake up,slightly confused. This is all new to me. Im also loosing weight atv2 lb per week so thats 6 lbs in 3 weeks and not trying anything different. Just a reminder that I have heart, kidney, thyroid underactive, diabetes borderline. Heart 2/3, KIDNEYS GFR30.5. Any ideas?

Hmm I think you need a chat with the GP Love101cats.I assume you've been eating as normal?

I tried last week but although she was at work she wasn't making any appointments in person or by phone. I shall try this week. I dont have an appetite so not eating much at all and tiny amount of protein due to renal diet. Im tired of being proactive. I want someone to check up,on me. Fantasy?

Doesn't sound like she was at work to me.🤔Hmm I suppose you'll have to try again this week.Is there any food you're allowed to eat that you fancy? What sort of things do you normally have?As for sleeping, how do you sleep at night?Do you have disturbed nights? It sounds like someone should be keeping a better eye on you.I hope you can get an appointment this week.

Eating - things I love im not allowed e.g. tomato, avocado, oranges, no cooked meats, wholemeal bread, cheeseonly the size of a dice, meat the size of a pack of playing cards. I enjoy a sandwich for lunch but what do I put in it? Meat oncea week, same for fish. But its working with my GFR. Sleeping - its my old friend breathlessness. At most I manage 3 hours lying down with oxygen then its back to the chair. It's a strange world where I get more comfort and support from strangers than from my g.p. who has known me for years.

That sounds really tough.Perhaps you need to change GP to get more support. The diet sounds tricky too.I'm plant based now after my diagnosis but I couldn't manage without tomatoes as they are in most of my meals.Have you checked out kidneycareuk.org who have online recipe books for your situation?

You definitely need to address the sleeping problem too.Could you sit up in bed with oxygen?I know you can get frames to support the pillows quite cheaply as it was discussed on here a while back. Not ideal but cosier than a chair perhaps.

I hope you get somewhere with the GP as then you can get the help you need.Take care.

Hi, are your vitamins and minerals ok - things like b12, folate, ferritin, vitamin d ? These things can have a huge effect on how you feel.

How can anyone know that? It used to be so simple. Will it ever return to what it was? I've joined almost 80 years and this is the most frustrating time of my life. Hospital take blood but don't pass on results to g.p. and visa versa. It doesn't feel like one NHS now. I dont know what to do now? I'm going to buy a stethoscope as I've got the rest of the kit. Its called D.I.Y. HEALTH SERVICE. Isnt that a good idea?
