Heart rhythms. What's normal

Hi so here we go. Have been feeling much better. Getting on well with meds (flecainide 50 and bisoprolol) for Fib and tachycardia. However my heart never stays at the same rate for longer than a few seconds. It flips between 60 and 100 constantly, but last night it woke me up and I felt agitated and not right. This lasted for about 2 hours or so, just flipping from 55 to about 110. No pain just an odd feeling. Does anyone else get this. Should meds keep heart steady. I didn't know what to do. Ideas for next time please.

Morning, How frightening for you. Get an appointment with your doctor a.s.a.p. I have AF and very occasionally my hart beat increases slightly. Your meds may well need tweaking.

Hi Hullensian. Thanks for your reply. I think you could be right but I dread taking more as I know it will affect me adversely. At 78 I'm still very active looking after grandkids etc., and I don't want that to change, they are still very young. Thanks again.

Mine does this all the time too (not through the night that I'm aware off) and I get symptoms too, I have mentioned it time and time again to my cardiac nurse and she just tells me that because I am in constant AF, the likes of the fitbit cant measure it accurately. So I bought a Pulse Oximeter, but apparently that won't measure my pulse accurately either. Basically, she fobs me off. Surely we shouldn't feel symptoms so often?

Just on the Fitbit and oximeter devices, your cardiac nurse is correct. If your heart rate changes very rapidly in big swings these devices are not sensitive enough to really register it - it’s all down to how they work. If you want A truly accurate picture you’ll need an ECG machine. So, on this count at least, she is not fobbing you off.

Thanks glencrosh for your comments. I think if one is not Really suffering they are not interested as they don't have time and resources o deal with everyone's little niggles.

I’m with hullensian on this one, go and have a chat with your GP. It is possible that your meds may need tweaking but try not to get too concerned by that. If your heart rate issues are causing you issues, the drugs should help you and if you feel worse then they are not the right drugs - don’t automatically assume they will make you worse it’s something if a failure if they do!
