Diagnosed with ectopic beats a year ago. Seems worse when bloated and lasts until I change position. Any one else with a similar experience? Trying to remember I’m not going to die but they feel so awful. No pain breathlessness etc and all tests rule out anything sinister so I just need to get on with it but it is scary

Help with accepting it’s just ectopics
Veey common, but too often unrecognised by doctors. Check Dr Sanjay Gupta's Youtube channel for many videos on ectopics and the gastro-cardiac interaction. You may find Omeprazole helps (prescription only) also magnesium (2 × 200 mg soluble Magnesium such as Magnesium Citrate, not Oxide.) You could also start seeing if particular foods set off the bloating. Wheat intolerance and lactose intolerance can do this. Both need several weeks of avoidance to be sure about it, followed by reintroduction, then make a decision.
thank you this is very reassuring to know
Hello - I'm new to this hub - I'm usually found on the Lupus and Raynauds hubs! Anyway, fantastic - thanks for your comment Cliff. I've been on the floor for about 15mins (seems like an hour) as nearly fainting with griping pain in whole gastric area, heart going bonkers and sweating like a dog. This has happened twice in last year and several times in past years and is just horrendous. My gastric stuff was discussed on phone last year finally after referral by GP and have been open to Cardiology for 20yrs.. but haven't actually seen a cardiologist in person for a year due, as with many of us, to Covid... but had my yearly echo last year which shows the usual moderate Aortic regurgitation - and post ablation for my previous life long awful atrial fibrillation from 4yrs ago, the 48hr tape showed only ectopic and supra ventricular beats. Result (as cardiologist says it's "normal" to have that... hmmm I'm not so sure as they're pretty strong beats and can wake me up!). I didn't think the tum and heart could be linked.... well, I suspected due to my funny turns, but had never seen it in print before.. So thanks so much, will have a look at Dr Gupta's YouTube talk. Hope you are doing ok. D
It has to do with bloating, digestion, etc...pressure on the vagus nerve. Nothing to worry about as long as you've been cleared of any serious heart issue. I've had this same problem for over 20 years now and my heart is fine. Took me about 3 years to get used to it. I now welcome it in a weird sort of way. My pvcs also act up when I'm really cold, lean my stomach against something, walk up a steep hill, or just move too quickly in a jerky kind of motion. The best is right before a bowel movement. Most people get cramps, I get pvcs.
Look up vagus nerve and palpations. I think you'll get a lot of your answers there. Good luck and Merry Christmas 🎄
I feel so emotional to read that someone actually gets it. I’m about 3 years in and slowly beginning so realise it is totally gut related. Do you follow a particular diet. I have been in fear each day to trigger it but I just want to get on with my life and not worry about it. Any tips?
I am so sorry GreenTre, I just noticed you replied to my response to you. I do not follow any certain diet. I'm definitely not the best eater, so I can't help you with that one.
You say you want to get on with your life...so do just that. Get on with it. You're the one stopping yourself, just like I did. I wasted so much time worrying about this, it was ridiculous! If you are otherwise ok, move on. Stop dwelling. Find something else to do. Trust me, your acceptance of it will make it better in time. (Assuming our problems are the same) A lot of people say anxiety makes it worse, but honestly, it hasn't for me. Maybe because I stopped fearing it. My pvc's are definitely digestive and strenuous related. Most of them are vasovagal related. Look it up, it's very interesting. Every time I lean against the sink to wash dishes I get pvc's. Vasovagal.
It's been a while since your original post so I hope that by this time you're doing better. Take care and stay safe!
