Gaslighting?

I have previously posted re my husband's problems getting taken seriously re pressure in chest at rest & occasional palpitations. His symptoms were dismissed as non cardiac in a 5 minute telephone consult by a specialist nurse from the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic because they only occur at rest . He wrote to the consultant in charge re various inaccuracies in her report enclosing a quote from the NHS website re variant angina. The reply did not respond to the latter in favour of defending the member of staff. He then tried to get a private appt. The clinic he approached was not seeing anyone due to COVID but the cardiologist was most helpful on the phone saying he was 90% sure it is angina. By this time his symptoms had increased in length & frequency & his GP agreed to his request for a second opinion. He was then seen in person- by the same nurse from the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic with the same outcome! The only additional info was that a treadmill test showed atrial ectopics but again, his symptoms were said to be non cardiac in origin due to not occurring on exertion - & again her report contained various inaccuracies. He had taken a symptom log which she refused to look at & had no opportunity to share the info he had printed out re variant angina. He is waiting to speak to his GP re getting an actual 2nd opinion. It is like being gaslighted. How do he & his GP get round the system?

Sorry to hear this, Covid is causing an endless amount of issues for a lot of us via treatment. I can only suggest maybe complaining to PALS or threatening medical negligence if he is not examined by person ASAP.

Do not hesitate to call 999 if needed. Take Care.

Hi Sue

A treadmill test I think is what is classed as being under stress !! So they will have quite a lot of information on how your husband Heart is Performing .

Did he not get any symptoms during the test ?? I think but not 100% that if you have angina it would show !!! Maybe Milkfairy can add some more information if it is possible to see Micro Vascular Angina on an Exercise Test .
