Once or twice a day I get a sharp stabbing pain in my sternum/centre of chest with no other symptoms that lasts about 5 seconds. I do suffer from heath anxiety and get regular ectopic heartbeats. I have also been diagnosed with mild ankylosing spondylitis. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

You really need to talk with your GP about this. It could be something or nothing but only your medic can determine what it is. If it's 'just' anxiety your medic will work that out quickly but it could be something a bit more physiological is going on so it is important to talk with the medic as soon as possible.
Ftr, when my 'usual' angina decided to add the 'bonus' of the stabbing pain, I told my GP who sent me straight to the Rapid Access Chest Pain unit. Turned out, after an echo and an angiogram, my recurrent pericarditis was in an acute flare stage plus my cardiologist now thinks I have microvascular angina ('angina with normal coronaries').
Again - ONLY your medic can determine what is causing that fleeting stabbing pain and you must give him/her the opportunity to investigate. Please update us when you've spoken with the medic.
You sound like me during the latter half of 2019, I ignored it and it got worse until I was having regular chest pain in March this year. After 3 months of complaining to my GP they did an ecg which was abnormal. I'd recommend getting an ecg from the GP which is so quick and painless and will put your mind at ease or start the ball rolling if something is wrong.
