Only problem I had was that it lowered my BP too much and it was stopped and BP levelled itself off.
I was put on 100mg after having a bad cough with ramipril but i kept getting dizzy. It was lowered to 50mg and that wasn’t controlling the blood pressure enough so eventually after a few months was put back onto 100mg which was better the second time around, but still not fully controlling the bp. Amlodipine 5mg was added and then changed to 10mg, all good for a few months until lockdown and then ankles started to swell so taken off that and put on indapimide 2.5mg which was ok but am now stering ti get dizzy spells so need to go back to doctor again
Thank you for your reply.
I started on Ramipril but also had intolerance to it, and was put on Losartan two months ago, and have been very tired ever since. I am also on Clobidogrel, so maybe that could be causing the problm.
I will have to speak to my GP.
I hope you get you r problem sorted out soon.
Yes.
General fatigue and depression for a long time, ending with a massive attack of urticaria.
Gave it up in favour of calcium channel blockers - different problems.
Gave that up in favour of plain hydrochlorothiazide.
It was added to my medications as another layer of protection. Made me to ired but when my pulse dropped to 40 and I had to sit that was it for me. Talked to GP and stopped them.
No problem!
Been on it for a couple of years 100mg but didn't control blood pressure so on different meds over the years with little result. All BP meds have side effects especially tiredness.
I had problems with losartiin ,but put back o on irrbesartin ,doctor said only given losartin because it was cheaper
Yes, made me extremely nauseated to the extent that I couldn't even keep water down, now on Ramipril and fine with that.
I was put on it after a review, but had severe side effects within a few days. It's taken several months to find a way of bringing my BP down since then and have ended up with three tablets to bring it down a bit!
sorry i hav'n''t more accurate dates
Initial tablets Amlodipine 10 mg
Caused oedema ... fat ankles and wrists
May: idapamide 1.5 and lercanidipine
july :(A) lercanidipine 20mg to be taken with (B)
july: (B) Indapamide 1.5mg modified release
sep: 12 hour monitor – excessive BP
sep: Ramipril 2.5mg, take with (A) and stop taking (B)
noted: leg and arm oedema and aching right arm
nov: ended taking ½ tab lercanidipine,
started ½ tab of Ramipril
one of them gave me a cough !
can't say anything brought down to 120/80 - more 140-50 / 90 but got
fed up with chemicals and side effects - so gave up!
increased potassium levels with fruit and
H&B supplement
giving nattikinase a trial!
So are you no longer taking a blood pressure medication my doctor just put me on them started 25mg on Saturday night so only took two so far. Feeling tired, got a headache not feeling myself. I feel like doing that myself
yes, i don't like taking tablets in the first place, and it felt so 'hit and miss' on what tablets might work, i got fed up with side effects, puffy ankles and aches - just makes you worry about what is happening to your body. I just felt i had to try more natural approach in foods, and trying to restrict all the salty foods around... also taking wilko's omega 3-6-9 capsule (vegetarian so no horrible fish burps!) I only read about nattokinase last week, its just soya, so i will monitor bp and see. best wishes
I’ve been on it for a number of years and have been fine with it until I saw these posts about fatigue! Sometimes I struggle to get up in the morning as I feel like a dead weight. Will check this out at my next review.
Amlodapin was a nightmare giving me bright red legs which were so hot it melted the varnish on my toes! Ramipril gave me the nighttime cough. It seems there are side effects with all so it’s probably Comes down to which side effects u can live with.
Hi I was changed from ramipril to losartam 50 mg and it has made me very tired all the time and nauseated
Very tired all the time and nausea
I was on Losarton before my mitral valve repair and found it made me tired in the afternoons, not good when you are at work and need to be awake. I mentioned it to the cardiac nurses and they said it may not just be the blood pressure tablets, you need to loose some weight. I didnt think I was over weight at 5ft 9 and 13 stone, they said yes, you are, you need to loose about a stone and a half and you will feel better. Well I was not too happy at that. The consultant explained to me that as the "extra" weight was putting more strain on my heart, so as it was poorly it was having to work harder, it was causing my blood pressure to rise and therefore I was tired. I understood it in my own way and managed to loose some weight, with their guidance, about a stone and funnily enough I did feel a bit better, not as tired in the afternoons but good enough to get through the afternoon at work without falling asleep on my customers. Ask your GP and cardiac nurses about whether it would be appropriate and work for you and how to do it safely. Now 2 and a half years on, I am recovered, however, I put weight on in lockdown and felt tired again. I have lost the weight and feel lots better. Ps I could still drop off in the afternoon but I'll save that until I reach 70 and can have a little siesta after lunch LOL. Please check with your GP before going on any weight loss plans etc
Hi and many thanks for your reply.
Being a lifetime gold member of weight watchers, I am not in any way overweight, so this would not apply to me.
I have spoken to my GP and she has written to the cardiologist with a view to changing the current medication, so fingers crossed!
Hi Hope you get it sorted, my friend has had hers changed a few times and has found one that suits her, its one only the hospital can prescribe. Well done on the weight watchers. Ive still got a stone to go, managed to loose 18 pounds recently.
Hi Christine. I moved from Amlopodine to Losartan as it quickly caused agonising muscle cramps. After around six months feeling great on Losartan I'm now experiencing tiredness, lower limb constant itching and insomnia. Off to see my pharamcist who's great to find yet another drug. From all that I've read every single BP lowering drug has a whole raft of side effects. Its a drag having high BP without finding that you suddenly get other things going wrong. Now considering non drug based therapies as I have a feeling no drug is problem free. Of course figuring out if some problems are just me and not the drug side effect is tricky. However the tiredness, itching and insomnia is very real. It just came from nowhere, up until then I thought great I have this fixed!
Hi Muso, I think you are right, BP meds do seem to carry a load side effects, but some people are just lucky and don't have any problems, I still haven't got mine sorted yet, as I am on a lot of other meds, and it could be something else that is causing the tiredness, still waiting to hear from GP after all this time. I hope you get your problem sorted soon.
