Any information on heart rate increasing to 150bpm during light exercise after AVR (Oct 2019) with On-x valve? (Resting HR is 70-76) Currently taking bisoprolol 2.5mg and also had a 24hour ecg which was normal.

It depends what you mean by light exercise. I had a new valve last May. I started exercising in December and my HR was about 150 for a 7.45 km when doing a 3k, on 1.25 bisoprolol. Doing a couple of runs a week 3k & 5k,off the bisoprolol, about 6.15 a km and HR average about 150 so things do get better. I'm 50 and this is prob about how I was prior to valve replacement but HR was higher.

Hope this helps.

Andy

What sort of exercise? How much exercise did you do before the operation? What is your BMI like? How frequently do you take your exercise?

Thanks for the reply. Light exercises like a cardio rehab circuit, step up, star jumps, exercise bike etc etc. Pre op I used to do alot of strength training hardly any cardio.

Get yourself some waterproof walking gear and try and get a daily walk in every day for 20 mins/ half an hour on a flat path to get your heart going and slowly extend the time you are out for to increase your stamina and get your heart pumping.

I do walk everyday for around 45 mins, my HR gets to 130bpm but I'm not breathlessness neither do i get tired.

Resting rate is reasonable , 130 during exercise is not bad. . You are not getting breathless and you don't get tired. All sounds quite reasonable?
