I started candesartan 8mg 4 months ago. Since then my sugar level increased from Pre-diabatic to diabatic. Also I started to have urinary track problems, though no urinary infection was diagnosed by my GP. Worst of all, there is no change in my BP readings.
My GP is aware of all these, but wants me to increase candesartan from 8mg to 12mg. I am not so sure.

Does the medication leaflet mention urine infections as a side effect? Certainly the leaflet with Losartan lists urine infections as a possible but rare side effect, and it is of the same family of drugs as Candesartan.
Hello and welcome to the forum! Candesartan is an ARB. These like ACE Inhibitors appear to slow the progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes so you have been a bit unlucky. One member here was pre-diabetic and now is back in the the normal range. He achieved this by losing weight, and getting BP and cholesterol under control.
UTIs are more common if blood sugars are raised. It may be worth asking for a retest.
I was put on Irbesartan some while ago as I am type 2 diabetic & have been for almost 20 years & very quickly my sugar level rose. & my GP took me off it. Anything ending in sartan must be from the same family of medication so it’s highly likely the medication you are on would cause the same rise in sugar levels. Have a word with your GP as there are many different blood pressure drugs available.
