Hi All,

I haven’t posted or been on here for a while so don’t know if this question has been asked.?

Has the government announced that there will be an extension to the extremely vulnerable person lockdown.? Or does anyone have an idea as to whether they will announce one.?

Thank you.

Keep Safe everyone.!

Liam.

Hi

At present we are advised to Shield till the 30th June but only if you had a letter .

I must admit I have been out for exercise as due to my illness I am much worse if I dont walk as well .

I go out early morning or evening when it is quite and have lots of areas to walk that are very quite .

I also do 3 Zoom classes a week run by our local BHF group

I do feel that we may be given a little freedom but not much I belive the Government do recognise that this lockdown is causing a lot of Physical and Mental Health problems .

Lets face It we could be shielded for a long time

Hi Rose54, my apologies for not replying to you sooner.! My letter was dated 21st March and in that letter it said to shield for at least 12 weeks from the date of the letter. Those 12 weeks ended yesterday (13th June), do I go out now.?? You mention that we have been advised to Shield till the 30th June but only if you had a letter. Was this another separate letter they sent, or was you meaning the first letter that I received dated 21 March.?

I’ve only stood on the top front door step to clap on a Thursday for NHS and been out in the back garden walking around the garden as many times as I possibly can due to several illnesses and to do a bit of garden. I’m getting enough fresh air. I really feel for people that live in flats as I used to live in one, they don’t have access to gardens.

I think the government are doing a fantastic job, but I think they should give us a proper update as to whether it’s safe for us. I don’t want to go out making sure I use all the social distancing rules and then end up getting covid19, because those 12 weeks would of been all for nothing.!

Thank you for replying, again sorry it took so long for me to reply.

Keep Safe.!

Liam.

Hi

Not a problem late reply

It would appear the Shielding letters all went out at different times so hence different dates .

The latest news was we can go out for exercise but had to be on your own and not to meet others and to abide to the 2 meter rule .

I think we will be given a little bit more soon as the R numbers down .

I agree the Government is doing a fantastic job .

To be honest I have been going for a walk over the last few weeks but only as I live in a quiet area.

Even thinking about going shopping tomorrow to pick up a few bits I need but I do will wear a mask and gloves .

Stay safe

No, Liam, I haven’t heard any updates about the way ahead for those termed “extremely vulnerable” and have been wondering if there will be any updates coming out for such people myself. My hubby is one of those needing to self-isolate. His letter from Gov.UK says to isolate for at least 12 weeks from receipt of the letter. We had already started to isolate on the recommendation of our son (wife is hospital registrar) a couple of weeks before arrival of the letter and even a few days before Boris’s first televised instructions, so nearing 12 weeks now.

However, I would expect the time for us being released from isolation will be when my hubby’s consultant says it’s safe for his cancer treatment appointments at the hospital to resume. Not imminent at this time as his next appointment has been arranged to take place over the ‘phone rather than face-to-face in a couple of weeks time.
