My practice uses a GP to triage. Receptionists are not qualified to do this although sadly some think they are! ☹️ Ring again in the morning as nobody here can give you a definite Yes or No.

Hi ye I m going too thank u I was nt happy with the reply I got at all not one bit helpful and yes some of them do think they re higher up than they are ! ! All I want to know at the end of the day is if I should stop the one tablet or not I don’t want to be taking it if theirs now no need too and should I stay in and do the 12 wks !! A straight answer would be good and a two minute telephone call is all I want not bothered about taking an Appt up ! Thanks for replying

Hi Chrissydoll. Is it Ticagrelor you’re supposed to drop after 12 months? That’s the usual length if you’re otherwise fine. You do need to get the Doc’s confirmation that you should stop. If they won’t answer maybe try to cardiac unit at your hospital? I stopped after 12 months as planned and was fine.

On the 12 week isolation thing. This link might help. bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

If you’ve had a heart attack and stents (like me) then you’re not in this super vulnerable category but in the ‘high risk of complications if you get it’ club. So you need to exercise very strict social distancing.

Hi yes it’s ticagrelor I m due to finish but I could nt even get past the receptionist to talk to anyone or even request a two minute telephone conversation about it and obviously I won’t just stop it until my doctor says I can !! but ye it’s hard at the minute to get things done is nt it !! I had to que up yes outside the surgery with plenty of others for 45 minutes just to put in a repeat prescription 😟but at least the sun was shinning while we all waited but I will try the cardio unit if I get no answer today as I m going to ring again also yes thank u I m definatly keeping doing the social distancing keep safe !!!

If you can’t get through suggest you give the BHF nurses a call: 0300-330-3322. This is one of those meds that I was really glad to stop.

When you call ask to speak with the duty doctor as it is personal and you don’t want to discuss with receptionist

You should have been given a date for it to stop in 12 months when in hosp or on discharge - i was give a special card with the date on & it was specified on the discharge letter. Do you have any documentation? If not, agree phone the cardiac nurses .

Hi Chrissy. Does the chemist's label on your ticagrelor say anything useful? Mine says "One to be taken twice a day - 1yr post NSTEMI. Stop date 29/05/2020."

If yours has a date like that on it, then it is safe to follow the instructions. Otherwise, yes, tell the receptionist that it is urgent as you need to know whether or not you should still be taking them!
